Tel Aviv Beaches – 14km of Beautiful Sand and Sea

You can’t go to Tel Aviv and not experience its amazing beaches. While the city may only occupy 14km of coastline, it is still home to numerous spectacular and beautiful beaches. In fact, National Geographic once rated Tel Aviv as the ninth best beach city in the world.

There are a huge number of beaches in Tel Aviv but in recent times, the Banana Beach has become one of the most popular. It is right in the south of the city and it has developed a reputation as a hippie bohemian hangout, especially on Friday evenings. The beach has its own café on the sand where films and sports events are screened for free, and it is always a relaxing place to stop to catch some sun and enjoy a beer.

If you go to the other end of the city, you will find the Metzitzim Beach (previously known as the Sheraton Beach). This overlooks the S’de Dov airfield and attracts a mixed crowd, ranging from the young to the old, as well as families. Thanks to a manmade lagoon, the water is calm, and it is a great place to swim.

If you want to visit one of the city’s most beautiful beaches then you need to go north to Hof HaZuk North, also known as the Mandarin Beach. It is one of the cleanest and best-kept beaches in the city, complete with neat lawns, benches, excellent facilities for showering and changing, walking paths, an outdoor gym, and more. You may have to pay a small entrance fee, depending on the time of year, but it truly is a beautiful beach.

Of course, Tel Aviv has many more beaches, and most of the time you can just walk along them from on to another without noticing that you are crossing boundaries. If you are looking to sunbathe and swim in the sea, then you are sure to find the perfect spot.
